Funerals, Fireworks, and Really Gross Food

Hey everyone!!
Let me preface by saying how truly grateful I am for all of your support, emails, and thoughts.
I know that I am never alone here. I love P-Days! There truly like Christmas. I love reading whats going on in your lives, and its a huge privedge to write all of you!

Elder's from her Zone that just left
I have been in the CCM for a month now. I cannot believe how quickly the time has flown by, and how much I have been blessed to learn both linguistically as well as spiritually.
The CCM is such a fun place to be, espically at night. The MTC is situated basically in the middle of the slummy part of Mexico City, and so you really hear everything.
The other night someone was totally killing a rendition of With or Without You by U2 on Karyoke. Its so fun to hear some of the night life here!
Madison's Companion is Sister Brady

To those who believe that Mexico is continually warm, its definitley not. The mornings here have started to get super cold, and I am not prepared for that weather in the least! I will be purchasing some warmer jackets once I get out into the feild.

Man, this week was a great week! Life here at the CCM is really pretty monotonous, and every day is essentially the same...(Language, Study, Teach, Lanugage....) but, its totally alright becuase I only have 12 days left here!

One thing that I love is that we get some pretty cool opportunities to see things here that I would never watch at home. For example, we got to watch the Mexico City Temple Dedication and Cultural Celebration a couple weeks ago, and this week we got the chance to watch the Funeral Services for Richard G. Scott, who passed away last week.
That was oddly enough on of my highlights of this week! I loved all of the things that were said, and it was so great to be able to hear an Apostle pray. Elder Holland gave the opening prayer and Elder Ballard gave the closing. It was really cool, because I dont think that I have ever just heard an Apostle pray. It was really great so see how much they really meant and chose specific words to say. Also, the services were all in English, which is just a general positive anyways. The talks that were given during the service were so great as well. It was such a hopeful funeral, and it was such a comforting thought that Elder Scott was reunited with his wife after 20 years. It was said so many times that he loved his wife so so much, and it was such a great blessing for them to be together again. Another thing that I have thought a lot about is how awesome the Celestial Kingdom is going to be.  I am so excited to meet all of my ancestors and have such a sweet reunion in the Celestial Kingdom, and know that this important priciple is what I am trying to convey and teach to the sweet people of Mexico.

Speaking of the people, I know that I have talked a little about the natives before, but I just want to say how much I love the Latino people. I know that I was called because of these people. They only are in the CCM for 10 days at a time, and it is always sad to say goodbye because they are so loving and are so sweet to us, even though our Spanish is horrendous.

Last night, as we were walking home, we got to see an all out firework show! It was super cool, even though I have no idea why they were having a total firework show on a regular Tuesday night. I have learned that you can do whatever, whenever here in the City. Its such a fun an upbeat enviroment, and I cant wait to get out into the feid!

I have had such a great experience here, and feel like the 'older' kids here at the CCM now, which is always a good feeling. I am totally relishing in it, because I know that the second I hit the feild, i'm a gringa:)

I hope that you all have a great week, and hope every one of you knows that we have a Father in Heaven who is acutely concerned about the monotenous details in your lives. Express your love, concerns, and doubts to Him through sincere and specific prayer, and I know that you will recive great blessings in your lives!

I love you all,

Mexico rocks - Half way through the Mexico MTC

These are the materials we are provided
Every week I am absolutely amazed with what I learn, and how I am able to grow here at the CCM. The days feel like years here, but I feel like I was just here yesterday writing home! This week was filled with tender mercies for me, and I gained such a genuine adoration for prayer. Here at the MTC, prayer is so necessary and I know that it is the sole reason that I can keep it together most days.

It has been amazing to see not only my progress, but the progress of those in my district over the past three weeks! I love being able to develop such tight knit relationships with those in my district, and since there are only six of us in total, its easy to do.

We were able to have a really stellar lesson about Hope in relief soceiety on Sunday, and I thought about it all week. Hope is having the faith that the Lord will fit you to the task at hand. Hope is turning to Christ in times of diffucuilty. I was really able to apply that because its easy to feel overwhelmed here. I oftentimes question how in the world I am able to learn Spanish in just 6 weeks, but then I have been able to think about the divinity of my specific call to Mexico City.
Very excited to get to the my mission
It has been a thought that really motivates me to continue to study and progress here, even when I dont particularly want to!

So all of the North American missionaries are in the MTC for 6 weeks, while the Latino missionaries are only here for 10 days, but our little district lovvveeess all of the Latinos here! They are always so positive and love talking to us even though we have broken Spanish. They teach us funny slang words and we help them out with English. It has been such a fun experience here!

All in all, this week was so good. I cannot believe how much I was truly able to learn within such a short period of time, and it gives me so much hope for the next week!

I love you all, and truly appreciate all of the sweet emails, thoughts, and prayers that are sent my way!

Week 2 in the Mexico City CCM

We were able to go to the temple today!

The session at the temple today was all in Spanish, and it was so cool. I had a really hard time saying everything in Spanish, but they had workers helping. It was just so good. It was cool to have a session of all missionaries. When we were done, we got to go to this a little store that's just a little bit aways from the temple and had a whole bunch of cool little trinkets, and a got a spanish CTR ring for less than a dollar. I lovve pesos.

The Mexico City Temple was rededicated on Sunday, it was awesome. Both President Eyring as well as Elder Holland were there, and it was so cool to listen to them and know how close they were to us.

We were all really hoping they would drop in to say hi to all of the missionaries, but that wasn't the case I guess.

On Saturday night, we got to watch a transmission of the Cultural Celebration. It was really interesting, and one of our teachers was in it dancing! His name is Hermano Silva, and he is the most funny latino I have meet thus far. We always make up twitter handles for him in class, cause we want him to get a twitter. He is a great teacher and awesome latin dancer!

The language has been so so hard for me, and I really am not good at it. I am for sure progressing though. We had to teach for the first time in all Spanish just two days after we arrived at the MTC, which gave me enough anxiety to last my lifetime. We teach every day, and starting this week, we teach in the morning and the night. We teach our teachers, which sounds kind of weird, but it is so good, because they know where we are at with our Spanish. Its really hard, and has been such a humbling thing for me to try and understand and speak a new language. I am really excited for the day when I can understand all of class, or all of a devotional. But for now, I usually can pick out enough words to understand the message of things.

Classes are so much fun, but they are all day every day. It is really easy to become unfocused or discouaged. (especially because my comp. is really good at spanish. She took four years of it in school, so its a given that shes ovbiously better than me, but its still hard.) We usually have breakfast at 7:00, then at 7:30, we have class which goes until noon, when we have a lunch break, then have one more hour of class before we get gym time (which I totally love) and then go back to class till 9:30. The days are so so loong.

It's been really good to get to know Hermana Brady! She's a really good girl, and I love her.

Also, today is the equvillant of the Fourth of July here in Mexico, last night was an absoulte madhouse. This morning, we went outside of our house and picked up bullets that people had just shot into the air last night and they had come into the CCM. There was blaring music, like repeated speeches, and mariachi bands playing alll night. It was so much fun during the day too because there were TONSS of fireworks and gunshots and just such loud noises going all day long. It was such a fun day here!!! VIVA LA MEXICOOOOOOOOO

The food is pretty gross most times. Some days they cater in Pizza from Costco, which is basically mana. We have rice and beans out at every meal, but those are hit and miss too. They put mashed potatoes on their sandwithes...its bizarre. You never really know what youre going to get here! Today for lunch they had these taquitos that were baked with beef in them, and they had this avocado verde salsa on them too, and those were pretty good.

All in all, it has been a good week, I am grateful to be learning and pray that I will be ready in a couple of weeks!!

Love you all!!

First Week in the CCM

Sept.10, 2015

Hello dear family and friends!

What an amazing week it has been at the CCM here in Mexico!
I miss you all, and have loved being able to read your emails.

It is such a great place to be , and the campus is absoultely beautiful here. There are green parrots that live in all of the palm trees here, and so its always fun when we have class outside.
We began teaching a practice investagator on Friday (two days after we arrived) and for those of you who dont know, my first spanish class in my entire life was on Thursday. Talk about a humbiling experience!! I have been able to truly rely on the Lord here at the MTC. We were able to listen to a devotional given a couple years ago at the Provo MTC by Elder Scott. Its simply amazing and it has made my prayers so much more earnest and meaningful.

My Spanish is no good, but I know that through the power of faith and prayer, I will be able to bring the spirit when I teach. My companion is great, and really helps me day by day. My district is awesome too, there are only six of us! Elder Skinner, Dennette Charlton´s nephew is in my district too!! Small world.
Well, I miss ya, but I am loving the good times and the bad here at the CCM. I cant wait to get out into the feild, because I already love the people.

All my Love,

Hermana Beardall
