Thankful!!

Beans for Thanksgiving....

How are you all?? I really missed Thanksgiving this week.:) 

I have something great to tell you, we went to the Visitor’s Center on Saturday! It was so great, and we had 5 of our investigators there too!! 

Hermano Marcos is great! He has a baptismal date for 26 of December, and is really excited to get baptized. We have had a lot of really cool lessons with him, and he always likes to share a scripture with us during our lessons:) He is super great, and I think that he is going to be such a great impact for our ward!

Another one of our investigators is named Ariceli, and the missionaries before us found her family and began teaching them in March of this year. They are all really great, and her oldest son that is 24 years old was baptized about 3 months ago. She has been super resistant to baptism, and we had kind of a slam-down lesson with her. We left the lesson feeling a little nervous that we were too bold, but when we came back for another lesson, in the first like 5 minutes, she told us that she wanted to be baptized! The spirit can totally change people. She wants to surprise her daughter for her birthday (because her daughter, Marisella, really wants to be baptized) and be baptized in January. Super cool!!

Another one of our investigators, Brenda, is the really young lady (23) with 3 kids. She has been totally a blessing for us, and we love teaching her! She just needs to get married and then we will be good to go with her:) 

Another one of our favorite times is when we have lessons with the Family Hernandez. They are a less active family of like 5 years, super young, but have totally changed, and have been coming to church every wee for the past four weeks! They are really an awesome little family, and I am so happy to know them!

Its been a busy week, but really special too!!

Also, we saw a guy on a motorcycle get hit by a car yesterday, and it was probably the scariest thing that I have ever seen. The car didn’t stop or anything, and that was equally as bad. The really great thing is that he wasn’t hurt or anything....yeah it was a little crazzzzyyyy!!!

Thank you so much you guys! I really miss you, but I know that I am completely different here, the changes are so real!! We can become so great in this life, but we definitely need to work at it!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hola family and friends! I truly hope that you're all hanging in there and moving forward in huge strides!! I truly miss you and am grateful for experiences every day.

I cannot believe that its Thanksgiving this week! I mean, that doesnt really hold too much sentiment here, but its a big milestone for the mish!! 

We are so blessed here, and our efforts do not go unnoticed. This week, we were able to have some really great lessons with our investigatores. We have crazy busy afternoons, and its been great to have investagatores develop a testimony for themselves here. 

One thing that really touched me this week is a lesson with our first convert, named Maria de La Luz. She is about 60, and lives alone, during the lesson, she just poured her heart to us about how great of an influence we are in her life, not because we are missionaries, but because we are truly her friend. I really have developed such a sweet love for her, and am so greatful for not only friends back in the US, but my sweet new friends here in Mexico. 

This week has been a great week for me to develop dilligence, and to always put my trust in the Lord, and then not worry about the outcome of things. I know that when we are doing the things we are supposed to, and truly putting forth our best efforts every day, the Lord blesses us.

I am so happy, honestly the mission is so great!!!

This week was really great! 

I am so happy. Honestly, the mission is so great!!!

We have a new investigator with a baptismal date!! We have a tooonnnn of work with less active members, and I really love it!

We have a family of all girls that are investigators, and they have a really tough living situation, and its really difficult. So its totally normal to live with your parents for your whole life here. Its a little crazy, but this family lives with their parents and the mom is single, but the grandma is totally apposed to the church, and its been a little iffy with her. Last week we went to visit them and only the grandma was home, but we sang a hymn with her, and it was really spiritual and cool! 

Also we have an investigator that is basically the best. In lessons he shares scriptures with us instead of the other way around, and its been so so cool to see the change in his life in only one month as an investigator of the church! 

its awesome here because everyone is So willing to talk about God, religion, and Jesus Christ. When we ask how peoples days are, they always respond with 'thanks to my god, I have been blessed today'. Its really cool! And the BOM really resonates with many many people here. A lot of people are already baptized into whatever Christian religion, and so they don’t really understand why they need to be baptized again. They love God, they 'follow' Jesus, so why baptism again??

The restoration is really important to explain with super simple words, also the priesthood. Its a lot of fun!

The language is going super slooowww. But, the great thing is is that I totally know that I am trying my very best, and being as obedient as possible, and so I know that I am worthy of those blessings!! Its been super humbling. I know the gift of tongues is soo real. 

Physically, I am exhausted. I don’t really sleep at night, because I have really crazy dreams a lot of the time. Other than that, I am really really happy!! 

Also, I got my hair cut today........ Dad, you would have died in this hair cutting place. They’re called Estiticas here, and they are all over the place. My haircut was 50 pesos, and so I guess I really can’t expect too much..:) Its a little.. well different than what I wanted. Turns out men who cut hair here in Mexico do basically what they want to. Its just all my dead ends are gone! He also layered the back a little bit…….. I hate it so much!!

I actually have grown to love the apartment. We hand wash our clothes for the most part, but they have little laundry business that do all your laundry for 15 pesos every kilo (2.2 lbs) and so that’s crazy cheap. The problem is that we don’t have tons of money to spend from the mission. 

I actually have loved washing all my clothes by hand!! Its really relaxing.:) 

I really am so grateful for all of the love and support! My time is up here, but I love you and hope your week is really great, take care, and know that I love you so much!!!!

It's Totally an Attitude Thing!

Week of Nov 9^th, 2015

Madison had the opportunity to do exchanges with Hermana from Utah this past week.  She was so excited to learn and grow from this cute sister and to finally speak English with someoneJ  She had this to say about how she is adjusting to being a missionary:

“Serving in Mexico is so much fun!! Its totally an atitude thing, and I dont want to be a sad person here. I mean, this is my life for the next little bit, and so I really want to learn, and enjoy ,and experience all of it while I can!!!”

  We had a nice little surprise from Hermana Wible letting us know how there day went.  I know that Madison is learning so much and is truly loving the people of Mexico.  Thanks to such amazing sisters, she is becoming a wonderful little missionary herself. Here is the letter from Hermana Wible:
